ASCG Informs About The Consolidation Of The Imss Mailbox As A Mandatory Communication System

Mexico City – AS Consulting Group (ASCG), a leader in consulting and advisory services in accounting, tax, and legal matters, informs its clients about the recent publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) of the decree that amends the Social Security Law concerning digital tools. This change, effective from June 8, 2024, establishes the mandatory use of the IMSS Mailbox for various administrative and fiscal procedures.
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) will now manage notifications, subpoenas, summons, and the issuance of resolutions through the IMSS Mailbox, a digital platform accessible 24/7, designed to facilitate communication between the Institute and users, including employers, beneficiaries, public accountants, and legal representatives. This mechanism ensures the notification of acts, requirements, or administrative resolutions efficiently and securely, with the same legal validity as documents signed in handwriting.
In the first phase of implementation, the system will address procedures related to incorporation, collection, and auditing. Additionally, users will be able to make inquiries about their fiscal and administrative situation before the IMSS digitally. It is important to note that procedures can also continue to be carried out through the 133 IMSS Sub-delegations.
Moreover, it is crucial that individuals register and keep their contact details with the IMSS updated. If the IMSS Mailbox is not enabled, or if incorrect data is registered, the Institute may proceed with notifications according to the Federal Fiscal Code.
As a result of the above, the Institute was given a period of up to 60 days to publish in the Official Gazette of the Federation and on its website the general rules for the operation of the IMSS Mailbox, as well as the procedures and services that will initially be available through it.
EVIDENTIARY VALUE OF DOCUMENTATION FROM THE IMSS MAILBOX
The documentation obtained through this electronic means produces the same legal effects as documents signed by hand and, consequently, has the same probative value.
